Privacy policy

RoamPin exists because travellers should be able to know their border-day position without handing their movements to somebody else. This policy explains, in plain terms, what that means in practice.

The short version

Your travel history is yours. RoamPin is built so that the data describing where you have been never needs to reach us, and the parts of the product that calculate your days do so on your own device.

  • The Schengen calculator on this website runs entirely in your browser. The dates you enter are never transmitted, stored or logged.
  • The RoamPin app keeps your location and travel history on your device and in your own private iCloud, not on our servers.
  • We do not sell personal data, and we do not share travel history with advertisers or data brokers.

The website calculator

When you enter entry and exit dates into the Schengen calculator, the calculation runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing about those dates is sent over the network — not to us, not to any analytics provider, and not to any third party.

Closing or refreshing the tab clears them. We do not persist them in cookies, local storage or a session.

The app

RoamPin reads signals already present on your device — location history and photo metadata — to reconstruct which countries you have been in and when. That processing happens on the device.

Your resulting travel record is stored locally and, if you enable it, synced through your own Apple iCloud account. We have no access to that iCloud data.

You can correct any day by hand, export your history, or delete everything from within the app. Deleting the app removes the local record with it.

Analytics and cookies

This website uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Where we measure aggregate usage, we do so without recording travel dates, destinations or anything that identifies an individual traveller.

Third parties

Some infrastructure providers necessarily process technical data such as IP addresses in order to serve this website — our hosting provider, for example, keeps standard server logs. Those logs contain no travel information.

If the app is distributed through the App Store, Apple applies its own privacy terms to the download and any purchase.

Your rights

Because we hold so little, most data requests can be answered simply: your travel history is on your device, and you can inspect, export or erase it yourself at any time.

If you are in the UK, EU or EEA, you retain the rights granted by data protection law, including access, correction, erasure and objection. Contact us and we will help.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how your data is handled, say so in the app.
